11 held for lottery scamming still not charged
Up to late yesterday, police had not charged any of the 11 people held Saturday in connection with lottery scamming activities. '

A 57-year-old woman, her two sons and teenaged granddaughter, are among 11 persons facing criminal charges after they were detained in a series of coordinated raids by the Lottery Scam Task Force in Manchester.

Media relations officer for the Lottery Scam Task Force, Special Corporal Kevin Watson, says the four were detained after several lead lists and other items linked to the scam were allegedly found at premises they occupied.

A total of 15 persons were detained in the day-long operations which started at 5 a.m. But Watson said four were released after investigators indicated that they had no interest in them.

He says it is expected that the others will be charged under the Law Reform Special Provisions Act that was enacted recently.
