Six months for stealing seasonings

A man who is accused of stealing seasonings from a supermarket was sentenced to six months in prison when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court last Thursday.

Charged with simple larceny is David Pringle of a Kingston address.

It is alleged that Pringle entered Empire Supermarket and stole eight Maggi Season Up seasonings. Pringle was caught, was arrested and charged.

Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey asked the accused why he stole the seasonings, to which he responded, "I was under the influence of drugs, Your Honour."

Pringle, who was previously before the court to answer to ganja charges, told the magistrate that he has been struggling with cocaine addiction for more than a year.

He was remanded and recommended for treatment.
