Fisherman on assault rap gets bail extension

A man previously accused of punching a woman he alleges is his girlfriend, had his bail extended on Tuesday in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court.

He is fisherman Edgar Aiken, of a Port Royal address, charged with assault occasioning bodily harm.

The complainant, Erica Young, reappeared in court insisting she knows nothing of what the accused speaks.

"Your honour, I don't need to tell a lie on him," said Young.

"She make love to me your honour!" Aiken replied

Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey seemed agitated at the man's defence in court as he proceeded to persuade the judge about the legitimacy of his purported relationship.

RM Pusey admonished the accused by saying, "You're lying man, stop it! I going send you to jail for thumping her."

The judge ordered the accused to return to court on March 6, along with a social inquiry report.
