Guns, ammo seized on Mandela Highway

Police officers, who were conducting a vehicular check point along the Mandela Highway in St Catherine seized one firearm and several rounds of ammunition yesterday.

A male and his female companion were taken into custody in connection with the seizure.

Reports from the Duhaney Park police are that about 12:10 a.m., the officers signalled the driver of a motorcar to stop. The driver did not comply and the officers issued an All Point Bulletin. The vehicle later collided into a parked motor vehicle at the intersection of Duhaney Drive and Baldwin Crescent, Kingston 20.

It was searched and a .45 Ruger semi-automatic pistol with a magazine containing six .45 cartridges was seized.

The identities of the persons taken into custody have been withheld pending further investigations.
