Escapees recaptured

Three of four prisoners who were on the run following a six-man jailbreak at the Chapelton Police lock-up in Clarendon last Wednesday, were recaptured over the weekend.

They are Ezra East, Omar 'Wingy' Campbell and George 'Breezy' Morgan. This brings to five the number of escapees who have been taken back into custody.

East, who is charged with larceny, was held in the wee hours of Saturday morning at Farm Hill in the parish.

Campbell, who is charged with rape, was nabbed during a search operation for him in Mason River in the parish about 5 p.m., on Saturday. Forty-two-year-old Lovette Daley has been charged with harbouring a fugitive, after Campbell was found at her house.

Morgan, who is charged with murder, was recaptured during an operation in Brandon Hill in the parish about 12:25 p.m., yesterday.

Still on the run is 40-year-old Oniel Stenneth, whose last known address is Coxswain district, Clarendon. He is charged for incest.

Police discovered the six men missing during a routine check about 4 p.m.. It was reported that the men cut a section of the grille in their cell. Two of the escapees were recaptured shortly after the jailbreak was discovered.

Police Commissioner Owen Ellington, commended the Clarendon police for their swift action in recapturing three of the escapees over the weekend.
