Woman charged with sister's murder pleads guilty

A woman who was charged with the murder of her sister almost two years ago pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the St Catherine Circuit Court yesterday.

Susan Smith, 38-year-old labourer of Portmore, St Catherine, is accused of killing her sister Stacey-Ann Smith on April 6, 2012. He was represented by attorney-at-law Roy Stewart.

When the matter came up before Justice Vivienne Harris, the Crown accepted the plea to the lesser offence.

She was remanded to be sentenced on Thursday next week.

Facts are that on the day in question, residents were greeted with swarm of flies and a foul smell. Check later led to the discovery of her sister's body buried in concrete in a bathroom.

An investigation was launched by Detective Sergeant Llewellyn Madden which resulted in Susan being charged with murder.
