Police urge residents to report criminal intimidation

The police are encouraging residents of eastern Kingston, particularly those in Rockfort, to report any form of intimidation by criminal elements in their communities.

In recent times, members of a criminal gang operating in the area have been chasing residents, including legitimate homeowners, from their homes and then charging them rent for living in their homes.

The police are extremely concerned about this new trend and have deployed more resources to the area to protect the assets of residents. The police have also vowed to continue their search for those who are involved for the upsurge of violence in those communities. Residents are advised to call 119, 811, 311 or the nearest police station to report any act of intimidation from these criminal elements.

Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner of Police George Quallo, under whose command the Kingston Eastern Division falls, is describing the action of these criminals as brazen and disgraceful.

According to Quallo, the police will not allow these barefaced criminals to drive away people who have worked for their homes, and then charge them rent to live in their own homes.

"This type of disgraceful behaviour cannot and will not be tolerated," Quallo said.
