Reggae great Paul Elliott has recently released a spanking new music video and several singles, which is being cited as the veteran's major statement of intent coming back to the fore in music.

The established reggae artiste, often referred to as the 'Chosen One', is very upbeat about his latest studio efforts which include the already-buzzing track In The Valley Of Decision, the European-loved Vous and Get Jah Involve and It's Been A Longtime, featuring Mr Pepper.

For most of the past decade Paul Elliott, one of the many reggae artistes to make a name both locally and internationally, has been plying his musical trade overseas, especially in France, where he has a mega-star status.

Because of this, one would think the evergreen Waterhouse native was off pace, given the ever-present requirement in local music. However, the multifaceted singer, who was presented with an award for his contribution to reggae at last year's Linkage Media's 4th annual Awards Show in New York, said he is back with greater zeal after a period of agonising observation.

"It's the same zest from the 1980s, from Cultural Paul to Elliott Paul, nothing has changed. This thing (music) is not about me, it is about the people and the messages that are brought forth to them, to uplift and inspire," he said.

musical march

Now the veteran, who has released 17 reggae albums to date, is set to use the songs aforementioned as foundation for his musical march going forward.

Vous, produced jointly by the singer's Stronger Productions record label and King Jammys, has been at number three for the past eight weeks on the South Florida Reggae Charts. The song also boasts a music video directed by Elliot and a prominent French videographer. It also features popular French reggae artiste Defanger.

In The Valley Of Decision, also produced by King Jammys, was released in November on the Exit rhythm, which also features Dennis Brown's Exit and Pad Anthony's Cool Off. It continues to generate plenty attention as it portrays a signature Paul Elliott, known for his revolutionary lyrics.

Get Jah Involve and It's Been A Longtime have enjoyed number one spots on the popular New York/Foundation Radio Network Reggae chart, the latter being more current.

Elliott is also known for the hits Seek Jah Blessings, Save Me Oh Jah, Real Thing and Chat Dem A Chat Wi, which features Richie Spice.
