24-y-o sentenced for boxing woman

A 24-year-old man accused of boxing a woman in her face was sentenced in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

Shavoy Edwards, of a Corporate Area address, was before the courts on a charge of assault occasioning bodily harm.

The crown alleges that Edwards assaulted the complainant, boxing her in her face causing several bruises and swelling.

"Mi a look her friend, and a talk to her friend, then she say a she mi fi take on ... . Then mi say, a wha do da stinking gyal ya? Mi get stress out and box her," Edwards told the court.

Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey ordered him to pay $10,000 or serve six months in prison.
