Pregnant woman caught stealing sheet set

A woman in an advanced stage of pregnancy was brought before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday after she was caught stealing a sheet set.

Charged with simple larceny is 20-year-old Kerry-Ann Jurvis.

She pleaded guilty to the offence.

The court heard that Jurvis went to a Bashco store and stole a sheet set valued at $1,250.

When asked by the court, when is she due to give birth, Jurvis said, "Month end".

Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey said, "Nuh dweet again because we have facilities for child bearing and rearing at Fort Augustus."

Jurvis was fined $10,000 or six months' imprisonment.

A fingerprint order was also made against her.
