Man fined for fake vehicle documents

A St Catherine man who was caught using a fraudulent licence disc was fined $25,000 plus 10 days' imprisonment in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

Marvin Dixon, of Portmore, St Catherine, pleaded guilty to a raft of traffic violations when he appeared in court.

He was fined $10,000 for no driver's licence and $2,000, or 10 days, for no insurance coverage. In addition, he was fined $5,000 or 10 days, for fraudulent use of licence plate; $5,000, or 10 days, for fraudulent use of disc, plus $3,000 and 10 days' imprisonment.

The facts are that on December 29, the accused was spotted along the Hellshire main road in St Catherine.

When his vehicle documents were examined, the police later found that they were fake.

Resident Magistrate Marcia Dunbar-Green told the accused that he would be prevented from owning a driver's licence for 12 months.
