jeweller charged for switching customer's chain

A jeweller accused of switching a customers gold chain had the matter sent to trial yesterday when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court.

Charged with Larceny by trick is Sunil Daswani, who pleaded not guilty.

The court was told that the complainant had given the accused a gold chain, but to him a different chain was returned.

The accused man told the court, "Your honour, it was the same chain."

The complainant, however, refuted that claim, saying, "The man exchange mi chain and give me a smaller chain."

Senior Resident magistrate Judith Pusey set the matter for trial on March 13.
