Still no charges for detainees

Two men who were detained following the hold-up of a woman on the Llandovery main road in St Ann on Saturday were still not charged up to late yesterday.

The men were arrested and a firearm taken from them after a police team on patrol intercepted them as they attempted to escape, The Star was told.

Reports from the St Ann's Bay police are that about 10 a.m., a woman was held up and robbed of a cellular phone and a purse by two men travelling in a Toyota Corolla motor car.

The police said an alarm was raised and the vehicle was subsequently intercepted by a team that was on patrol and the men held. During a search of the vehicle, a Glock 9mm pistol was found, the police said.

The identities of the men are being withheld pending the laying of charges, the police said.
