Church Pen resident Omar 'Emzed' Martin's first contact with music was not by accident and he is ready to fulfill his artistic ambitions.

''I remember, as a little boy, my neighbour would pay me to sing for him and I would just get better at it. I then built a guitar out of wood and used fishing line as the strings. That is where it started,'' Martin said.

He is on the 'Rugged Rhythm' with Dem si mi laugh but dem no Know, a cultural song, reflecting his poor but meaningful lifestyle.

''My type of music is positive and uplifting. I know that I have a duty, especially to the youth, to do positive songs, which can give a message of hope to them, '' Emzed said.

The artiste said he is now working with Sir Gift Records label, an instant connection which he thinks will aid in his musical development.

Martin said his early inspiration came from dancehall artiste Moses 'Beenie Man' Davis, and he intends to walk in the entertainer's footsteps, doing good, clean music.

His manager, James Davis, said he has seen good musical qualities in the young artiste and everything will be done to hone his craft to get maximum results.
