Boom Boom nominated for Favourite Selector/DJ

Popular sound system selector Marlon Wizard, better known as Boom Boom, is nominated for Favourite Selector/DJ in the 2014 Youth View Awards (YVAs)

The ace selector, who either plays at or attends most dancehall events and dances held across the island and overseas, says he is quite upbeat about the nomination.

"Being nominated for the YVAs is a good look. I feel proud to know within myself that a little street youth like me have the kids gravitating towards my style and swag. I have worked hard to reach where I am and also so humbled by the nomination," Boom Boom said in a media release.

Aside from the nomination, Boom Boom will also be a presenter at the awards, which is scheduled for the National Indoor Sports Centre tonight.

Apart from a prolific career as an in-demand dancehall selector, Boom Boom has experimented on the artiste side of the business.

In 2012, he recorded the track Wine Wine with Beenie Man which was produced by Jamhouse Records. He recently collaborated with Black Queen on the track Up Inna Di Jelly. Another recent collaboration Hot Gal Suppen features Kibaki and Singing Sweet. Boom Boom is also featured on Voicemail's single Step from their latest album.
