Man linked to wife's shooting remanded
Rasbert Turner, Star Writer

A man charged in connection with the shooting of his wife was remanded in the St Catherine Circuit Court on Friday.

Sean Coffie, the widower of the deceased woman, was remanded along with his co-accused, Shevena Allen, a labourer, both from Portmore, St Catherine, after the court heard that murder charges were pending against them.

When the matter was called up before Justice Vivienne Harris, prosecutors said both men will be charged with murder. It was also revealed that Coffie, who is a teacher, will be charged with child pornography due to videos and photos found in his cellular phone.

Upon being told of the new developments, Justice Harris told defence attorneys Zavia Maine and Patrick Peterkin that bail will not be entertained. She then ordered the men be remanded until February 14.

Allegations are that in July last year, Coffie's wife was shot and robbed while en route to work.

The gunman then ran into a school and escaped. Four months later, she was shot dead at her home in Cumberland.

Allen and Coffie were taken into custody in connection with his wife's shooting. They were subsequently charged with illegal possession of firearm and conspiracy.
