Unidentified body found afloat in Causeway area

Detectives attached to the St Andrew South Police Division are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an unidentified man who was found in the Causeway area, St Andrew, in seawater on Saturday.

Reports from the Hunts Bay police are that about 1:45 p.m., residents saw the body and summoned them. On their arrival, it was seen afloat on its back, in the nude, with wounds on its body.

It is of dark complexion, slim build and is about 183 centimetres (6 feet) long. The body is believed to be in its 60s.

The scene was processed and the body removed to the morgue for post-mortem.

The police are asking anyone who can assist them in identifying the body to contact the Hunts Bay police at 922-6441, Crime Stop at 311, police 119 emergency number or the nearest police station.
