Man accused of assaulting cop... says he was touched inappropriately

A young man who alleges that he was touched inappropriately by a police officer while suffering from a gunshot wound in hospital pleaded not guilty to assault charges in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court last Thursday.

The accused is charged with assault occasioning bodily harm. When he appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey, he was offered bail in the sum of $50,000 with surety.

It is reported that the accused man felt threatened and defended himself against what is described as unwanted advances.

He was ordered to return to court on March 24 pending an outstanding medical report.
