In keeping with a renewed focus in 2014 on engaging the UWI Mona students with the research projects and issues under examination at Research Days, popular performing group No-Maddz has been contracted to conduct a special first-of-its-kind Research Tour/Concert on February 21, closing the tent exhibition with a bang.

The multi-award winning dub poetry group comprising of Sheldon Shepherd, Everaldo 'Evie' Creary, Christopher 'Birdheye' Gordon, and O'neil Peart will be creating lyrics specifically for the occasion, dealing with the issues and projects on display surrounding the 2014 Research Days theme of Fostering Growth and Development in Small Island Developing States through Research.

The tour will see group members moving from one point to the other inside the tent, engaging both exhibitors and student attendees with their unique brand of 'reasoning'.

While in the form of entertainment, this final lesson that Research Days has to offer will not be lost on the students. "The discussion will give students an idea of the range of research that they can undertake whether as an undergraduate or postgraduate student, and open up their eyes to the wealth of topics that can be studied, including a number of non-traditional topics", said Professor Denise Eldemire-Shearer, chair of the Research Days Steering Committee.

The concert which is free to the students will be the penultimate event for Research Days 2014, followed later in the evening by the Faculty Research Awards Ceremony, where outstanding researchers will be honoured for their 2014 achievements.
