Fast-rising singjay D-Medz was recently given a much sought-after opportunity to showcase his musical skills in Kingston, and the razor-sharp musical maestro grasped the opportunity with both hands, delivering a dazzling performance at Kings Plaza's Bleu Essence Lounge.

The singjay dropped a perfect one-hour set, which was backed by Step-by-Step Band and accompanied by a number of fellow artistes, including Down Sound's recording artiste Nature, Rural, Third Gear, Shac, Timoy and Teisha Rain.

"It was a great experience for me as a young artiste to perform at the Bleu Essence Lounge and get that sort of response from that sort of audience. I performed for over an hour and I got three encores," D-Medz gushed.

The show, named D-Medz and Friends in Concert, was billed as a strictly roots-reggae gig, however, the May Pen-based artiste dropped a couple dancehall tracks which were well received by his audience.

"I blaze about 11 of my best tunes at the show, including a five-song dancehall segment. Surprisingly, that segment was also well received because I make clean, wholesome music, whether it's be roots reggae, dancehall, or any other musical genre," he boasted, hinting that he is on a musical mission to regain the respect for dancehall.

"Songs like Road Tonight, Rebel Soul Jah and Baby Mama Drama were the high point of my performance, and those were the songs the people connected with easily," D-Medz shared.
