Mechanic on cocaine charge faces court February 20
Christopher Thomas, STAR Writer

A St James auto-mechanic, arrested last June for reportedly possessing 41 pieces of crack-cocaine, will have his case mentioned in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on February 20, as a number of statements are still outstanding.

Lascelles McKenzie from Salt Spring, charged with possession of, and dealing in crack-cocaine, had his bail extended in court Friday.

It is alleged that on June 5, 2013, a joint police-military team conducted an operation in Hurlock, St James, and went to a house where McKenzie was seen on the veranda. The house was searched, and the crack-cocaine was found hidden in a cooler. McKenzie was arrested and charged.

McKenzie's lawyer, Trevor Ho Lyn, asked clerk of the court, Natalie Malcolm, if the prosecution's case file was ready in his client's matter.

"I gather that the file is still incomplete?" lawyer Ho Lyn asked.

Presiding magistrate Carolyn Tie subsequently extended McKenzie's bail.
