Bail extended for alleged cop killer

A St Catherine man who is charged with the murder of a policeman had his bail extended until May 5 when he will reappear in the St Catherine Circuit Court.

He is Desmond Barrieffe, 30-year-old labourer, of Waterloo district, St Catherine.

He is charged with the death of Constable Sijohn Hood of the Mobile Reserve and Waterloo district.

When the matter came up it was revealed that the Crown would not be ready until May for trial.

Allegations are that on November 26, 2010, Barrieffe and Hood had an altercation when a knife was used to stab the cop. He died as a result of the injuries received.
