Dancehall artiste Xyclone is looking forward to releasing his first album this summer, now that he has inked a one-album distribution deal with VP Records.

"VP approached me with a distribution deal, based on the success of Back Pocket Rag, the feedback they got was overwhelming for an up-and-coming artiste. They were so impressed, they gave me a one-album distribution deal. The album will be released this summer, and we have a few tracks completed so far, including a remix of Back Pocket Rag with Beenie Man," he said.

Released in September 2013, Back Pocket Rag became one of the most heavily rotated singles on FM radio last year.

"It got the proper radio play. Given the feedback, we had to do the video, and the response has been great, 50,000 views on Facebook, and 20,000 plays on YouTube. The video did well, a TV station ah France say it finished the year at #11 on their dancehall countdown. Ah the biggest song of mi career so far," he said.

Xyclone, who is linked to Spragga Benz's Red Square label, said the remix of Back Pocket Rag featuring Beenie Man was released for the first time on the club scene in Philadelphia.

"The response has been incredible, people are loving the remix and you can see the response on Twitter and Facebook. It's gonna be big," he said.

In January, Xyclone released a follow-up single, Every Gal, that is getting favourable airplay on local radio.
