WESTERN BUREAU:

A St James man who reportedly stole a woman's BlackBerry cellular phone was remanded until Friday when he appeared in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

Christopher Wilson, charged for simple larceny committed against Iona Tomlinson, pleaded guilty with explanation before Resident Magistrate Carolyn Tie. He was remanded after the court was told that he has a similar case pending.

Although the prosecution did not outline the allegations, the defendant told RM Tie that he had found the phone on the roadside in downtown Montego Bay.

"Is the file ready?" RM Tie asked clerk of the court Natalie Malcolm.

"No, Your Honour, but he has a charge coming this Friday, of a similar nature, and five minutes apart from this one," said Malcolm.

RM Tie ordered that Wilson should be taken back into custody until Friday.

"You will be brought back here on February 21, as you have another case on that day," RM Tie told the defendant before he was taken out of the courtroom.

Although the prosecution did not outline the allegations, the defendant told RM Tie that he had found the phone on the roadside in downtown Montego Bay.
