Keiva to host birthday bash

Dancehall's dancing diva Keiva will host her annual birthday party on February 28 and wants her fans and supporters to come out and celebrate the big day with her.

In an interview with The WEEKEND STAR, Keiva revealed that this year's celebrations will be held at D'Entrance on 78 Constant Spring Road and will be an event not to be missed.

Dubbed 'Fashionable, Sexy and Trendy', Keiva says there is absolutely no admission charge, and music will be provided by deejays Ricky Trooper and Gary Chunks.

"It is free to come in. I just want people to celebrate my birthday with me. Come watch me cut my cake with over 12 celebrities," she said.

The dancer could not reveal who those celebrities would be, but insisted it would be a treat to all those who turn up on the 28th. "It is a surprise every year, last year I had 15 or 16 people cut the cake with me and this year will be no different," she said.

dry season

The dancer also used the opportunity to comment on the state of the dance industry which she says is currently experiencing a dry season.

"Dancers are still dancing, but we are not being booked for shows nor are we touring. The last time I toured was back in 2012 when I went to Russia, but there isn't much happening these days." She linked this to the music industry, stating that artistes needed to work closer with dancers and produce more songs to showcase the talent they possess.

"There aren't much dancing songs anymore. Aside from Voicemail and a few others, nobody is really pushing dancing". When asked about her current projects, she revealed that her clothing store was currently her main focus. "I am working in my store full time. I did a couple of videos that have not been released yet, including one that pays tribute to the late dance icon Bogle."
