Extreme Pushers rock St Ann eliminations

Extreme Pushers in action

The crowd came out in full support of their favourites as the St Ann leg of Dancin' Dynamites held its elimination at St Hilda's High School last Saturday.

The 10 teams, qualifiers from the audition, weeks prior, performed well and elicited favourable responses from the judges.

The five groups that went through were Cameron Skankers, Extreme Pushers, Mad Vybz Dancers, Dustville Dancers and Diamond Squad.

For the schools, Holy Trinity, Marcus Garvey Technical, Steer Town Academy, Excelsior High and Haile Selassie moved forward.

One group and one school will advance from this set of contestants to the next round.

The night clearly belonged to Ocho Rios-based Extreme Pushers. Their innovative approach, in which they used a congo drum, forced judge Orville to take to the stage to congratulate them.

Cameron Skankers, on the back of an energetic performance from female member Sheckena Daley, did quite well, so too Dustville Dancers.

For the schools, Excelsior High, led by an outstanding performance from female member Monique McKoy, did well, so too Holy Trinity and Marcus Garvey Technical.

Group members received cell phones from long-time sponsors LIME. Lucky members of the audience got LIME-branded bags.

Allan Rance, assistant store manager, LIME, said, "It was lovely."

"We at LIME, when it comes to events such as sports or entertainment, we are always there for everybody, right across Jamaica,"

Producer Jennifer Small was also pleased with the show.

"The second elimination was definitely more energy than the first. The surprises, the elements so rich, so dynamic and so competitive."

"I don't know what Jamaicans are going to do," small added.

"If they confuse the judges, then, my goodness, when you see it on TVJ it's going to be crazy. This one is definitely going to turn things up."
