Two accused of scrapping car remanded

Two men accused of being involved in the scrapping of a stolen motor vehicle at a Linstead garage, were remanded in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court.

Charged with receiving stolen property are Noel Ford and Donovan Palmer.

The Crown is alleging that on February 1, the complainant parked her car in New Kingston and went to conduct business. Upon returning, her motor vehicle was missing and a report was subsequently made to the New Kingston Police.

Following investigations, the vehicle was found being scrapped at garage in Linstead, St Catherine. It is further alleged that the men ran when they were approached by the police.

In court, the attorney representing the men, Everton Dewar, dismissed claims made that the men were running as Ford was picked up by police on his way home and Palmer was apprehended at the garage. Furthermore, the attorney said the men were taken to another garage, where the owner of that garage fled the scene.

They have denied scrapping the vehicle. The men are expected to return to court today.
