Politician in court over borrowed money
André Williams, STAR Writer

A politician who borrowed over $1,000,000 from a lending institution more than a year ago was dragged before the courts for failing to repay the loan, after repeated efforts by the lender to contact him proved futile.

THE STAR understands that the councillor is presently before the Sutton Street Court in Kingston, as the loan company is attempting to reclaim the funds owed.

Our news team gathered that the loan was taken after the most recent Local Government Elections in 2012, and its alleged purpose was to start a business.

When THE STAR contacted the loans company, which is located in Kingston, a representative confirmed that the political activist was before the courts for outstanding payments.

The representative told our news team, "Yes, the matter is before the courts. He has made several promises to no avail. At one point in time we tried contacting him and he changed his number. The constant run around was getting out of hand."

Efforts by THE STAR to contact the councillor proved futile. Repeated calls by our news team to his cellular phone went unanswered.
