Still no lead in businesswoman's murder case
André Williams, STAR Writer

The St Catherine North police say they have not made a breakthrough in their probe involving the fatal shooting of a St Catherine businesswoman who was shot dead by gunmen last week Monday.

The deceased, Sonia Gayle, was travelling on the McCook's Pen main road when the incident happened.

Reports from the police are that shortly after 7 p.m., Gayle was travelling towards Spanish Town when a car with men aboard pulled up and opened fire hitting her in the upper body.

She was pronounced dead at hospital.

THE STAR gathered that Gayle was the owner of a business establishment located in Old Harbour.

Yesterday, a senior officer from the division told our news team that there had been no breakthrough and they are still investigating the matter.

In an earlier interview last week, Senior Superintendent Anthony Castelle, head of the division, told THE STAR, "It's early days, we don't want to guess and spell. More statements are being collected so we can be better and more informed. It could be a reprisal or contract or even a bit of both."
