Surety extended for Man accused of assault

A man accused of assaulting his sister, damaging a telephone in the process, had his bail extended in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Friday.

He is Mark Williams, charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and malicious destruction of property.

The court heard Williams and the complainant, his sister, got into an argument, resulting in Williams assaulting her, damaging a home telephone and miscellaneous attachments in the process.

"Your Honour, he's lying! Him start pop out the phone and internet cord, then him start go outside and throw stones! He's just pretending like he's crazy, but he's not. When him act out like that it's because of money. Him start to mash up everything," said the complainant.

Upon hearing this, Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey remanded Williams in custody, awaiting trial on March 6. A fingerprint order was also made.
