Sizzla Beach Project halted in St Thomas?

Sizzla - File

Following media reports that the St Thomas mayor was unaware of developments in the parish involving popular dancehall deejay Sizzla Kalonji, the Sizzla Beach Project has seemingly come to a halt.

Following his court appearance in the Yallahs Resident Magistrate's Court last month, Sizzla, whose real name is Miguel Collins, revealed that he and his team at the Sizzla Youth Foundation would be commencing work on a section of a beach in Grants Pen, St Thomas.

The initiative would see the deejay installing facilities such as a kitchen and bathroom in the area. However, when asked about this project, St Thomas Mayor Ludlow Matherson said that at the time, he was unaware of any applications to the parish council requesting permission to carry out any developments in the area.

When The STAR contacted the entertainer to get a statement regarding the project's progress, a representative from Kalonji's team said no comments could be given at the time as the artiste was currently in discussions with the mayor on how best to move forward with the initiative.

Efforts to contact the St Thomas mayor for confirmation proved futile.
