Fisherman fined for punching woman
The fisherman who is accused of punching a woman, who he claimed was his girlfriend, was fined $20,000 or six months' imprisonment when the matter was mentioned in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

He is Edgar Aiken from Port Royal, Kingston, who is charged with assault occasioning bodily harm.

Senior Resident Magistrate (RM) Judith Pusey had previously ordered a psychiatric evaluation and a social-enquiry report on the accused after he was insisting that he and the complainant were lovers.

The complainant had previously told the court that she was never in a relationship with Aiken, and she only took money from him once.

The accused doesn't have a mental problem, however, the RM questioned how many times and under what circumstances the complainant took money from Aiken.

It is alleged that Aiken was in Port Royal when he witnessed the complainant, Erica Young, coming from another man's house. A dispute ensued between the two and Young was punched in the eye.

Meanwhile, RM Pusey gave the accused a stern warning to stay away from the complainant.
