Accused woman gets return court date

On April 4, a woman who has pleaded guilty to stealing more than $200,000 from her employer is to return to the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court to repay.

Charged with embezzlement is Patrice Murray, 31, of Woodhaven, Kingston.

Allegations are that on several days in 2013, the accused, who was employed as a customer clerk at Super Cleaners Laundry Limited, collected $217,000 and failed to hand it over to her employer.

A report was made to the police and the accused was later arrested.

"Officer, a some church business why she vex enuh," the accused said to the cops while she was being arrested.

In court on Thursday, the accused told Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey that she borrowed the funds with the intention to repay.

"I wasn't stealing it. I was just borrowing the money and I started repaying it," Murray said.
