Bail extension for alleged murderer

A St Catherine man accused of using a piece of board to beat another to death five years ago had his bail extended when he appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magis-trate's Court.

When Roy Williams appeared, his matter was postponed until April 23, when it will again be mentioned. Williams is charged in connection with the death of Patrick McFarlane from Spanish Town.

Allegations are that in August 2009, the accused returned home and found the now deceased inside his house. An argument developed during which McFarlane was attacked and beaten with a piece of wood. He died on the spot as a result of injuries he received.

Williams is reportedly also accused of attacking his wife and raining blows over her body which resulted in both her arms being broken.

An investigation was launched which resulted in Williams being charged with murder and two counts of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.
