Elderly woman robbed, killed

The community of Mango Walk in St James has been plunged into mourning following the vicious stabbing death of an elderly woman from the community late Monday night, THE STAR has learnt.

Information reaching our news desk is that the deceased, 79-year-old Phyllis Williams, after making her way home from church, was attacked and stabbed repeatedly by unknown assailants.

Reports are that about 10 p.m., Williams was attacked and left for dead. Her attacker(s) allegedly fled the scene with her handbag which had been reported missing.

THE STAR gathered that the injured Williams managed to contact a friend who later summoned the police.

She was rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

THE STAR tried without success to speak with the Commander for the St James division, Superintendent Egbert Parkins, however, THE STAR was assured that police investigations are ongoing.
