The St Catherine North police have confirmed that robbery was the motive behind the shooting death of a taxi operator in Spanish Town, St Catherine, on Friday.

Information reaching our news team is that the police are now hunting for a man, who, while posing as a passenger aboard a taxi, proceeded to rob other passengers and while making his escape shot the driver in his head.

The deceased has been identified as 50-year-old Lowie 'Ras' Cooper of a Willowdene address in the parish.

Reports from the Spanish Town police are that the taxi operator picked up three passengers at the Spanish Town bus terminus and on reaching Toronto Close, a male passenger asked for a stop.
