Come Mek Wi Praise Him set for April 26

Omari - File

There will be an atmosphere of worship come April 26 when the Parks Road New Testament Church of God hosts a benefit concert on the grounds of the Clifton New Testament Church, 52 Mannings Hill Road.

Dubbed Worship: Come Mek Wi Praise Him, guests are encouraged to come experience a soul-shattering encounter with God in a praise filled environment.

Davia Raynor, one of the event's organisors, told The STAR that the concert will surpass all levels of normalcy as it is more about the ministry than fun and entertainment. "It will be all about worshipping and tuning in to the Spirit of the Lord. The focus is on the ministry, so we expect a lot of souls to be saved on the night," she said.

Admission to the concert will be $800, and showtime is 6 p.m. Raynor said half of the building of the Parks Road New Testament Church has already been completed, and made it clear that all proceeds from the concert will go towards the church-building fund.

Well-known comedian and pastor, Leighton Smith, will be the night's emcee, and performances will come from Omari, Kukudoo, Jermaine Edwards and community talent, Fiyaneer among others.

Raynor also informed that arrangements are being made to offer transportation to persons who might find it difficult to get back to a central location after the concert. "We are arranging to get buses to take persons from Mannings Hill Road to Half-Way Tree after the concert is over, but this will attract an additional cost." She did not disclose the amount, however, stating that all the plans have not yet been finalised.

She encourages Jamaicans to come out to the event with a "heart full of worship and a mouth full of praise."
