African reggae singer signs with 619 Entertainment

Jamaican-based singer Mamakaffe is booked for the big spring concert in her native country, Ivory Coast.

The concert is under the patronage of Mrs Rita Marley and will take place on April 2 and 3. It is dubbed Les 24 H du Reggae Abidjan, and features Mamakaffe, Kajeem and Ismael Issacs, among others.

The artiste, who has spent the last seven years living in Jamaica, is steadily building a name for herself internationally and is also getting some recognition on the local scene. Already well known in France and in several African countries, she is aiming for her adopted home as part of her strategy.

Mamakaffe's career is looking up with the recent acquisition of a management team consisting of 619 Entertainment CEO Roger Grant, and Ricardo Berry of Rebel UI Entertainment.

These moves have borne fruit as she recently came back from a trip to New York where she signed a distribution agreement with VP subsidiary, Vpal, and was featured on the Music Saga TV show on the Manhattan Neighbourhood Network with popular host, Medj Ahmed.

She also has a new single which features Hefla 'Hungry' Nyah, produced by Grant and Paul 'Wrong Move' Crossdale that is winning her rave reviews. The song is a Rita Marley cover: The Beauty of Jah Plan and is the lead single on her upcoming EP, Natural Girl, to be released on her own label and distributed by VP/Vpal Records.
