Man begs for bail reduction to attend funeral

A man who pleaded for his bail to be reduced because of an alleged death in his family had his wish granted when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Charged with robbery with aggravation is Eric Anderson of a Kingston address.

pretended to have a gun

It is alleged that Anderson pretended to have a gun on him and robbed the complainant of his cash and cellular phone.

Anderson, who pleaded not guilty, asked Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey if she could reduce his bail amount because, "my son with 'fits' died two weeks ago and his mother died in 'foreign', and I would like to come out to sort out his funeral."

Anderson, whose bail was at $100,000, had it reduced to $50,000 with a surety. He is to return to court on April 17.
