Exciting new dancehall firebrand Kantana is on the verge of a major breakthrough with his hit, Head A Bunx.

The single, produced by Big A on the Biggimani Music label, has been enjoying heavy rotation on IRIE, ZIP, HITZ and several other radio stations.

"It ah get a lot of airplay, this will be the song that is going to break me into the mainstream. Everywhere I go, people shout 'head a bunx'. Right now, is a 'Head a Bunx' government ting now in the streets," an elated Kantana said.

He earned a huge forward at a show called 'Rum-Bar Bubbles' in Ocho Rios last month when he performed the song to a packed house.

"Beenie Man called me up and mi do Head A Bunx, but the way the crowd ah gwaan, mi haffi do the song two times, mi get a four-corner forward. Beenie Man asked them afterwards: 'Oonu love mi artiste?' and the whole venue give him a resounding 'Yes!'," he said.

Earlier this month, Kantana hosted a free concert dubbed 'Head a Bunx in Jack's Hill' with entertainers like Beenie Man, and he got a massive turnout.

"Everybody already ah say I must make sure mi keep it back next year. It ah go be an annual event," he said.

Kantana attributes his recording success to a new style of deejaying that combines 1980s-style call-and-response deejaying with a savvy, new singjay style.

"Mi deejay like me a perform the call-and-response thing, that ensures maximum audience interaction. Then mi deejay the verse like mi a sing a hook. The people dem love it," he said.
