69-y-o found dead on church grounds

The body of a 69-year-old man was found on the grounds of the Old Braeton New Testament Church of God, in Portmore, St Catherine, yesterday.

It has been identified as that of Irvin Rexted of the said address.

The police told THE STAR that about 10:30 a.m., a terrible stench saw persons searching for the source and came upon the body of Rexted, otherwise known as 'Cry Cry'.

The police were called in and they processed the scene.

When The Star visited the scene, persons gathered and expressed sadness that Rexted was a victim of asphyxia and was last seen alive on Sunday.

"He was a jovial man who loved to play dominoes; he was also honest and hardworking. However, as you 'quint' him cry and that's how he got the name," said Louis Witter of the Braeton area.

His views were echoed by other persons who said that the deceased had worked with a major construction company as a security officer until recently.

It is reported that he occupied an unfinished building on the church property where he died.

The Portmore Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) is investigating,
