April date set for alleged phone, laptop thief

A mention date was set in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday in a matter in which a man allegedly stole two items belonging to his soon-to-be ex-wife.

Charged with simple larceny is Lloyd Kerr Jr.

The Crown alleges that on the day of the incident, the accused man barged into the house of the complainant, his soon-to-be ex-wife, and repeatedly pushed her down, which resulted in her suffering bruises and cuts. During the incident, it is alleged that he took her iPhone and laptop.

In court, both the accused and the complainant were claiming possession of the laptop. Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey believed the conflicting interests in the laptop needed to be resolved and medical reports arising out of the incident needed to be served on both parties.

Subsequently, both parties were ordered to return to court on April 16, when the matter would be mentioned.
