New court date set for fraudster

Twenty-one-year-old Marlon Davis, of Grange Pen, Lilliput, St James, arrested in 2013, reappeared in court on Wednesday to answer to Breaches of the Law Reform (Fraudulent Transaction) (Special Provisions) Act in the St James Circuit Court.

Davis appeared in the Montego Bay Circuit Court on January 13, 2014, and pleaded guilty. He was scheduled to be sentenced on Friday, January 24. However, the presiding Judge did not accept his plea, due to a disparity, and he was remanded in custody.

Reports are that Davis was arrested on December 28, 2013, by police personnel on an operation in Rose Hall.

Davis was allegedly seen exiting a financial institution, acting in a suspicious manner. He was accosted, searched and items used in lottery scamming found on his person.

Further investigations led to a search of his premises. a book containing particulars of persons living overseas, and other lottery-scamming paraphernalia.

He is scheduled to appear before the court on Thursday, April 10.
