Man freed of unlawful wounding charge

A man accused of wounding another man walked free after the complainant had a change of heart in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court recently.

The accused man, Phillip Dunston, charged with unlawful wounding, walked free when the complainant begged that he be released.

"I don't want you lock up Mr Dunston. Mr Dunston is like a father to me. I don't want you lock him up," the complainant beseeched.

"Then how you go to the police and report him?" asked Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey.

"A the police dem do it Your Honour, a nuh me," the complainant replied.

The sitting magistrate admonished and discharged Dunston.
