69-y-o found dead, throat slashed
Horace Fisher, Star Writer

Sixty-nine-year-old Robert Watson, a mason of a Portland Cottage address, was found dead yesterday with his throat slashed and several chop wounds to his upper body in a section of the Portland Cottage community called Salt Savannah.

Reports are that Watson left home sometime after 7 o'clock for work yesterday morning. However, when he did not show up at work, a search party went looking for him. He was later found with his throat slashed and with several chop wounds just metres from his bicycle.

Kenneth Brown, a cousin of the deceased, told THE STAR that Watson was a hardworking man, who was not known to be involved in any trouble.

He said the area where Watson was found was an old sugar plantation that coal burners burnt charcoal kiln and taxi operators sometimes use to avoid detection by the police.
