Markus Myrie ready for the road

Markus Myrie

As far as producers go, Markus Myrie of Markus Records is one of the most talented and recognised producers in Jamaica.

Since his introduction to the world of music production, he has been working tirelessly to consistently produce hit riddims.

Since the start of the new year, he has produced hits such as Macka Diamond's Karma, I-Octane's Hot Spot, and the Sex Mate Riddim, all of which are doing extremely well locally and internationally.

The young producer has also been working closely with two up-and-coming artistes, D'east and Bryka, both currently signed to Markus Records.

According to Myrie, "D'east and Bryka are two talented up-and-coming artistes signed to my label. Jamaica, I want to tell you that these names are names you should be looking out for 'cause they are going to be taking the streets by storm."

In the past, Myrie has worked with some of Jamaica's best and most popular artistes, including I-Octane, Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, Agent Sasco, Mavado, and Tifa, just to name a few. He enjoyed his first hit in 2012 with the massive single Badmind Dem a Pree by Bounty Killer and I-Octane, which led him to be nominated for Producer of the Year at The Weekend Star People's Choice Awards, which he won.

"I have enjoyed my fair share of success in the business and I know for a fact there's only more to come. Music is something I love passionately, so whatever I put out, I believe in it. Having God, perseverance and dedication behind my dream is simply what makes me successful," he said.

In addition, he has a few other projects in the pipeline that fans can look forward to. Currently, he is working on the Formula X riddim to be released later this year and it will feature a host of artistes.

"Just brace yourself and look out," he said with a smile, "this riddim is another big bad riddim from your A-1 producer, a sure hit."

Being the son of one of Jamaica's musical icons, Buju Banton, the bar has been set high for this young prodigy and Myrie has no intention of disappointing the fans.

He may be young, but he has built an arsenal of hit riddims and will continue to deliver to his fans.
