Man freed of murder rap after witness fails to appear
Rasbert Turner, STAR Writer

A St Catherine man accused of beating another to death after he was caught inside his house with his wife, was freed after the witness in the matter failed to appear.

He is Roy Williams of Tawes Pen, Spanish Town.

When the matter came up in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday, the accused was told he could go as a result of a Conditional Nolle Prosequi (he was freed, but if the witness comes forward, it can again be called up) as the witness was absent.

Allegations before the court are that in 2008, the accused went home unexpectedly and found a man inside his house with his wife.

He became angry, grabbed a piece of two-by-four board and attacked them, beating the man to death while fracturing the woman's hands.

A report was made to the Spanish Town police and Williams was charged with murder and assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.
