The court heard that on November 14 last year, at 8:30 p.m., the complainant was allegedly attacked by McCleod and her boyfriend, Cross. During the attack, caustic soda was thrown on the complainant, which resulted in injuries to her neck and back.

It was revealed that following the attack, McCleod allegedly evaded the police until her arrest sometime in March.

Her attorney, C J Mitchell, said it was the complainant who attacked and injured his client.

He continued that it was during the fracas that the caustic soda came loose and burned the complainant.

He then added that while on the way to the police station to make a report, his client was threatened by the complainant's boyfriend.

Mitchell denied his client was evading the police. Both accused are to return to court later this month.
