Unidentified man killed at restaurant

An unidentified man was shot and killed at a restaurant while he purchased food along Gloucester Avenue in Montego Bay, St James, early yesterday morning, THE STAR has learnt.

Information reaching our news team is that the fatal incident occurred close to 6 a.m. in a section of the community commonly referred to as 'Botttom Road'.

Reports are that shortly after the shooting, two men were taken into custody for questioning after a car in which they were travelling allegedly matched the description of the getaway vehicle.

Our news team gathered that a gunman approached the deceased man inside the establishment while he ordered some chicken, before opening fire and killing him on the spot.

Reports are that the killer then made his escape in a waiting motor vehicle.

The St James Constabulary Communications Unit (CCU) confirmed that two men were in custody, however, they were not charged.

THE STAR was told that the men were held in Flankers and that the car was found parked.

The St James police say the investigation is ongoing.
