Two arrested in Guyana for ganja

The Guyanese police have arrested two Jamaican nationals at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport in Guyana yesterday, after a search of their luggage unearthed a quantity of ganja.

According to Stabroek News, the male and female Jamaican citizens were accosted by members of the Police Narcotic Branch after they arrived in the country.

The two were allegedly found with 61.7 pounds (28 kilograms) of compressed marijuana in their luggage.

THE STAR understands that the pair is in police custody, assisting with investigations. Up to press time, the identities of the man and woman were not disclosed.

Investigations continue.
